If any secular country wants to adopt any religion as state religion then :

1) People would feel discriminated.

2) They can also oppose the decision in some way or the other which might turn into civil war.

3) This might also effect the unity of the state.

4) This can also become a barrier in the development of the state.

5) Some people would feel inferior and some would feel superior.
