Given :

  • A Worker is paid = Rs. 240 for 5 Days.

  • Total Income = Rs. 1008.

To find :

  • How many days did he work to get Rs. 1008 ?

According to the question :

5 Days = Rs. 240

⟹ 1 Day will be = \sf\dfrac{240}{5}

⟹ ∴ 1 Day's income = Rs. 48.

⟹ No. of. Days = \sf\dfrac{Total\:Income}{1\:Day's\:Income}

\sf\dfrac{1008}{48}

⟹ 21.

Answer : 21 days

Step-by-step explanation:

We can do this by using 2 ways.

  1. RATIO METHOD

So, according to the question

Work of 5 days = Rs 240/-

DAYS : RS

5 : 240

Now, for Rs. 1008/-,

Let number of days be " x"

Work of " x" days = Rs 1008/-

DAYS : RS

5 : 240

x : 1008

By seeing the above ratios, we can see that the rupees increase therefor, the number of days will also increase. So it is a direct proportion.

By cross multiplying

240x = (1008)(5)

240x = 5040

Dividing 240 on both sides

240x = 5040

─── ───

240 240

x = 21 days

──────────────────────

  • UNITARY METHOD

5 days = Rs 240

  • To find for 1 day divide 240 by 5

1 days = 240 / 5

= Rs 48

Now worker earns rs 48 in 1 day.

  • To find number of days for Rs 1008 divide 1008 by 48 which is 21
