Q1. Answer the following:

1)The Ganga is the most important river of India both from the point of view of its basin and cultural significance. It rises from the Gangotri glacier near Gaumukh (3,900 m) in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The river finally discharges itself into the Bay of Bengal near the Sagar Island.

2)The Narmada River & Basin

The Narmada, the largest west flowing river of the Peninsula, rises near Amarkantak range of mountains in Madhya Pradesh. It is the fifth largest river in the country and the largest one in Gujarat. It traverses Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat and meets the Gulf of Cambay.

3)The Krishna river basin is shared by Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The Kaveri river is the most sacred in South India and is popularly called 'the Ganga of the South'. It originates from the Brahmagiri range in the Western Ghats. ... The river basin drains parts of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
