Answer:

1) If the upthrust is less than the weight of the object, the object will sink. If the density of the object is greater than the density of the fluid, the object can never displace enough fluid to create an upthrust that will hold its weight up so it sinks.

2) When a stone is under water then its weight is less than its weight in air as it is under action of buoyant force. Hence it is easier to lift it under water.

3) Archimedes’ principle states: An object immersed in a fluid experiences a buoyant force that is equal in magnitude to the force of gravity on the displaced fluid.

4) The air that is inside a ship is much less dense than water. That's what keeps it floating! ... As a ship is set in water, it pushes down and displaces an amount of water equal to its weight.
