Jawaharlal Nehru,born on November 14 was the first Prime Minister of the country. Children’s Day is celebrated on his birthday because of his endless love & affection for children.
Nehru was very fond of children and he strongly believed that children are the future of the nation. He once said “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country.” The concept of celebrating children’s day came up after Nehru’s demise in 1964. In other countries, Universal children’s day is celebrated on November 20 every year.
