please explain
Answers
Answer:
Permanent divisional commands were formed with an establishment of staff officers under a Major-General. After the reforms ended in 1909, the Indian Army was organised along British lines, although it was always behind in terms of equipment. An Indian Army division consisted of three brigades each of four battalions.
In India, the supreme commander of all three armies is President of India. The top army officer is called the Army Chief. The Indian Army is divided into 7 commands, whose details are given below:
1. Eastern Command (Headquarter – Kolkata)
2.Central Command (Headquarter - Lucknow)
3. Northern Command (Headquarter - Udhampur)
4. South-Western Command (Headquarter - Jaipur)
5. Southern Command (Headquarter - Pune)
6. Western Command (Headquarter - Chandigarh)
7. Training Command (Headquarter - Shimla)
