Q1. How do genes control characteristics or traits?
Q2. What is the role of auxins in plant growth?
Answers
Q1....
cellular dna is the information source for making proteins in the cell. a section of dna that provides information for one protein is called the gene for the protein.
for example,
plant height depends on the amount of plant hormone. the amount plant hormone made will depend on the efficiency of the process for making it. if this enzyme works efficiently a lot of hormone will be made and the plant will be tall. if the gene for that enzyme has an alteration then it will be quite opposite ie. plant will be short.
thus genes control characteristics or traits.

Auxin elongates root cells down into the ground, while at the same time elongating cells in the stem upward. This phenomenon helps the plant develop a strong underground support system and get nutrients from the ground, and it also helps it grow tall towards the sunlight.
