Given,

Length of the whole string = 118.25 metres

Length of one smaller piece of string = 2.15 metres

To find,

The number of smaller length of strings that can be cut from the whole length of string.

Solution,

To find the number of small strings,we have to apply the following mathematical formula

= Total string length/ Length of smaller string

= 118.25/2.15

= 55

Hence,55 smaller strings can be cut from the whole string.

Given,

Upward distance travelled by the marble = 15 metres

Depth of the lake = 7 metres

To find,

Total distance covered by that marble.

Solution,

Total distance = Upward travelling distance + Downward travelling distance + Depth of lake

= 15+15+7

= 37 metres

(The marble travelled the same distance ie. 15 metres, in the downward direction before entering the lake.)

Hence, the marble travelled a total of 37 metres.
