HEY MATE ,

THE STEP BY STEP ANSWER OF YOUR QUESTION IS AS FOLLOWS :

==

2x + y = 35 _______ 1.

3x + 4y = 65 _______ 2.

MULTIPLYING EQUATION 1. BY 4

4 ( 2x + y) = 4 ( 35 )

8x + 4y = 140 _______ 3.

NOW,

SUBTRACTING EQUATION 2. FROM EQUATION 3.

8x + 4y = 140

-

3x + 4y = 65

___-_____-______-_______

5x = 75

x = 75 ÷ 5

HENCE, x = 15

NOW

SUBSTITUTING x = 15 IN EQUATION 1.

2 (15) + y = 35

30 + y = 35

y = 35 - 30

y = 5

THEREFORE,

x = 15 and y = 5

SOLUTION IS ( x , y ) = ( 15 , 5 )
