1. mean= sum of observation / total no. of observation
18=16+14+x+23+20/5
90=73+x
so x=17
2.mean = sum of observation \ total no of observation
24=x+x+2+x+4+x+6+x+8/5
=> 120= 5x +20
=> 100=5x
so x=20
hope it will help you..
18=16+14+x+23+20/5
90=73+x
so x=17
2.mean = sum of observation \ total no of observation
24=x+x+2+x+4+x+6+x+8/5
=> 120= 5x +20
=> 100=5x
so x=20
hope it will help you..

Q.1 sum of 5 numbers = 18 × 5 = 90
but sum = 16+ 14 + 23 + 20 + x
so
90 = 16 + 14 + 23 + 20 + x
90 = 73 + x
x = 90 - 73
= 17
Q.2
sum of 5 numbers = 24 × 5 = 120
but sum = x + x + 2 + x+ 4 +x + 6 +x+8
= 5x + 20
so
120 = 5x + 20
5x = 120 - 20
x = 20
but sum = 16+ 14 + 23 + 20 + x
so
90 = 16 + 14 + 23 + 20 + x
90 = 73 + x
x = 90 - 73
= 17
Q.2
sum of 5 numbers = 24 × 5 = 120
but sum = x + x + 2 + x+ 4 +x + 6 +x+8
= 5x + 20
so
120 = 5x + 20
5x = 120 - 20
x = 20
