Question:-

If (x - 1) is a factor of  {x}^{2}   + x + k then find the value of K

Solution:-

Given,

(x - 1)

is a factor then x = 1

Substitute x = 1

( {1})^{2}   +  (1) + k = 0

1 + 1 + k = 0

2 + k = 0

k =  - 2

Question:-

If (x-1) is a factor of x²-2x+k then the value of k is

Solution:-

Given,

(x - 1)

is a factor

Put x = 1

( {1})^{2}  - 2(1) + k = 0

1 - 2 + k = 0

k - 1 = 0

k = 1
