Given : In ΔABC, the points B and C are (−3,1) and (0,−2) respectively.

the centroid of this triangle is the origin,

To Find : the coordinates of A

Solution:

Let say coordinate of A = ( h , k)

A = ( h , k)  ,  B (−3,1)  , C  (0,−2)

Hence centroid is given by :

( h - 3 + 0)/3 , ( k + 1  - 2)/3

Centroid is at origin ( 0 , 0)

(h - 3 + 0 )/3 = 0

=> h - 3 = 0

=> h = 3

(k + 1 - 2)/3 = 0

=> k - 1 = 0

=> k = 1

Hence coordinates of A = ( 3 , 1)
