Q1. In recent years there has been a
dramatic shift in the style of film-making,
and this has caused concern among
conservative Indians. The Indian cinema
industry is producing films that are vulgar
and too westernized. They are degrading and
diminishing India's true cultural identity.
You feel that films constitute a very powerful
medium and some kind of restraint has to be
exercised over what people, especially the
young, see.

Subject - Degrading India's culture through vulgar films.

Madam,

The current style of filmmaking concerns a large number of conservative Indians, who care for society as well as the development of India. The trend in recent years has been witnessing a dramatic shift in the style of film-making,

Mostly the production of the Indian cinema industry is vulgar and westernized. This does not reflect Indian society at all. On the other hand, it contributes to the degradation and diminishment of India's true cultural identity.

With lakhs of viewers, the films constitute a very powerful medium of communication with youth and children, who are the future of our country. Showing such indecent content will negatively affect their decision-making abilities, their view towards our culture and their aims and ambitions by distracting them.

Therefore, I hold a strong view that some kind of restraint has to be exercised over what people, especially the young, see. I hope the letter will be able to enlighten you on the usually overlooked topic.

Thank you,

Yours sincerely,

Akansha.
