Answer:1.There are actually four well-known states of matter: solid, liquid, gas, and plasma

2.Solid is the state in which matter maintains a fixed volume and shape; liquid is the state in which matter adapts to the shape of its container but varies only slightly in volume; and gas is the state in which matter expands to occupy the volume and shape of its container

3.To concert Kelvin scale into Celsius scale we have to subtract 273 so (a) 293K=293-273=20 ºC, (b) 470K=470-273=197 ºC

4.Because sponge has many air gaps between it, so it can be compressed. Sponge is solid but it can be compressed because sponge contains minute holes in which air is trapped and when we compress it the air gets out of it and hence it gets compressed

5.Humidity is the amount of moisture or water vapour present in air at any moment in time. On a rainy day, the air is full of water vapour. As the air gets warmer, its capacity to hold the water vapour increases. ... Hence, wet clothes take longer time to dry on a rainy day

Hey, your answers are here,

Answer1. The states in which matter exists aroun us are solid, liquid , gas, plasma and BEC (bose-einstein condensate).

Answer2.The forces of attraction between the particles greatly differ in the three states. In solids, the force of attraction between the particles is very strong. In liquids,it is less strong. In gases, it is weak.

Answer3. 0°C=273K

293K into °C

°C= 293-273

°C= 20°C

Answer4. A sponge has minute holes in which air is trapped. When we press it, the air is expelled out and we are able to compress it. On releasing pressure, it again regains its shape. So, it is classified as a solid.

Answer5. Rate of evaporation depends on humidity present in the air. On a rainy day, the air is very humid. Humid air already has large amount of water vapours, so rate of evaporation is slow.

Hope it helps you
