Explanation:

ANSWER:-

  • Any three constituents of petroleum are :-
  1. Petrol is used as a fuel for engines , in vehicles etc
  2. Kerosene is used as lamp fuels, in aircrafts.
  3. Paraffin:- as the name suggests, it is used to make petroleum jellies and paraffin wax.
  • We know that Petroleum is lighter than water. It has less density than water. So it will eventually float on the surface of water. Hence it can be separated by simple filtration process. Here a filter paper os kept in a funnel for absorption of petroleum. Hence filtration is the separation method.
  • Diesel is the fuel used for heavy motor vehicles. (However it is being replaced by CNG's now-a-days.)
  • Oil can be found in states like Assam, Gujarat and Maharashtra .
  • Formation of petroleum:- Fractional Distillation. In this, we know that the crude oil is the most raw form of petroleum. So , this is first is stored and evaporated in a Fractionating coloumn , where the crude oil is divided into the constituents. These constituents formed are petrol, diesel, gasoline, paraffin, LPG or liquified Petroleum gas, Bitumen and lubricating oil. And also some residue is left. These all are very useful in our every day lives. Also, petroleum is known as Black Gold as it has many purposes.

.

More to Know:-

  • Lubricating oil is used as Lubricants.
  • Gasoline is used as a fuel in vehicles, and also in heavy vehicles.
  • LPG or Liquified petroleum gas is used in kitchens for cooking food.
  • In Fractionating coloumn , the constituents are arranged from high melting points to low melting points.
  • Bitumen is used for making concrete roads.
