Given :  800 families with 4 Children , equal probabilities for boys and girls.

To find : how many families would be expected to have – (i) no girls

Solution:

Probability of Girls = 1/2

Probability of Boy =  1/2

No girls means all boys

=> probability of no girls =  Probability of all 4 boys  =  ⁴C₄(1/2)⁴

= 1/16

Total Families = 800

families would be expected to have no girls  = 800 (1/16)

= 50

50 Families expected to have no Girls
