Explanation:

➞ 6/x-1 -3/y-2 = 1 ----(1)

➞ 5/x-1+1/y-2=2 -----(2)

Let 1/x-1 be 'u' and 1/y-2 be 'v''

New Equation obtained:

➞6u-3v=1---×5

➞5u+v=2----×6

New Equation obtained

➞30u-15v=5

➞30u+6v=12

➞(-)(-)\:\:(-)(−)(−)(−)

____________

-21v=-7

v= 7/21 = 1/3

v=1/3

put v's value into this equation

➞6u-3v=1

➞6u-3×1/3=1

➞6u-1=1

➞6u=2

➞u=2/6=1/3

u=1/3

We have let 1/x-1 = u & 1/y-2= v

Now,

➞1/x-1=u

➞1/x-1= 1/3

➞3=x-1

➞x= 4

1/y-2=v

➞1/y-2=1/3

➞3=y-2

➞y=5

Hence,x = 4 & y= 5

Check:

➞6/x-1-3/y-2=1

➞6/4-1-3/5-2

➞6/3-3/3

➞2-1

=2

LHS =RHS(Verified)
