Question : Sum of two numbers is 95.If one exceeds the other by 15.Find the numbers?

⠀⠀⠀⠀______________________

☯Let one of the number be x.

Then the other number becomes x + 15.

{\underline{\boldsymbol{\pink{According~ to~ the~ question~ :}}}}

x + x + 15 = 95

:\implies\sf{2x+15=95}

\\

:\implies\sf{2x=95-15}

\\

:\implies\sf{2x=80}

\\

:\implies{\boxed{\frak{\purple{x=40}}}}

\\

Thus,

First Number = x = 40

And,other number = x + 15 = 40 + 15 = 55.

\\

Question : Two numbers are in the ratio 5:3.If they differ by 18.What are the numbers?

⠀⠀⠀⠀______________________

☯Let the two numbers be 5x and 3x.

{\underline{\boldsymbol{\pink{According~ to~ the~ question~ :}}}}

5x - 3x = 18

:\implies\sf{2x=18}

\\

:\implies\sf{x=18/2}

\\

:\implies{\boxed{\frak{\purple{x=9}}}}

\\

Thus,

The numbers are 5x = 5 × 9 = 45 and 3x = 3 × 9 = 27.

 \dashrightarrow \sf \ x = \dfrac { 80 } { 2 }

 \dashrightarrow \sf \ x = 40

Hence ,

  • First number is 40

  • Second number is x + 15 = 55
