Dear Editor,
I am writing to you in order to highlight the problems associated with inadequate public transport in Shimla.
The local residents continue to suffer from the inadequacy of transportation facilities in Shimla during peak hours. The visitors or tourists, who wish to use public transport on their tour to Shimla, are also disappointed. The commuters often suffer from overloading in the buses and in fact, the public buses to inner and periphery regions of Shimla in the evening are not adequate. The local residents feel that the public transport to these locations should continue till late hours, particularly after 8 pm.
These problems led to a rise in the use of public transport which has further worsened the situation. Traffic congestion results when public transport networks are no longer able to handle the volume of commuters that use them. And it severely affected the climate of the Queen of Hills.
I urge you to underline the concern in your newspaper and arouse public and government interest.
