Step-by-step explanation:

Two men can do a piece of work in 4 days and 6 days respectively.

⇒So, The first person can do a piece of work in 4 days.

⇒In one day he does, 1/4th part of work

⇒ The second person can do a piece of work in 6 days

⇒ In one day he does, 1/6th part of work.

If both of them work together,

Part of work done by them in single day

\begin{gathered} = \frac{1}{4} + \frac{1}{6} \\ \\ = \frac{3 + 2}{12} \\ \\ = \frac{5}{12} \end{gathered}

Let both of them take x days to complete the work, then part of work done in x days is 1.

But in x days part of work done is,

= \frac{5x}{12}

So,

\begin{gathered} \frac{5x}{12} = 1 \\ \\ x = \frac{12}{5} \\ \\ x = 2 \frac{2}{5} \end{gathered}

Therefore, If both men work together, They can complete the work in 2 and 2/5 days.
