Question-1

Use mean to find five rational numbers between the given numbers-:

Use mean to find five rational numbers between the given numbers-:A) -25 and -24

Use mean to find five rational numbers between the given numbers-:A) -25 and -24B) -5 and 0

Answer-1

A)–25 and –24

∵ mean of –25 and –24=(–25+(–24))÷2

=–24.5=–49/2

Similarly,

mean of –25 and –24.5=–24.75=–99/4

mean of –24 and –24.5=–24.25=–97/4

mean of –24.25 and –24.5=–24.375= –195/8

mean of –24.25 and –24=–24.125= –967/40

Therefore, any five rationals between –25 and –24 are:

 -  \frac{49}{2} ; \:    - \frac{99}{4} \:  ; - \frac{97}{4}  ;\:  -  \frac{195}{8};  \:  -  \frac{967}{40}

B) –5 and 0

∵ mean of –5 and 0=(–5+0)÷2

=–2.5=–5/2

Similarly,

mean of –2.5 and 0=–1.25=–5/4

mean of –2.5 and 5=–3.75=–15/4

mean of –3.75 and 0=–1.875=–15/8

mean of –3.75 and 5=–4.375=–35/8

Therefore, any five rationals between –5 and 0 are:

 -  \frac{5}{2} \:  ; -  \frac{5}{4} ; \:  -  \frac{15}{4} ; \:  -  \frac{15}{8} ; \:  -  \frac{35}{8}
