1 . Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. If there is a lot of water vapor in the air, the humidity will be high. Relative humidity is the amount of water vapor actually in the air, expressed as a percentage of the maximum amount of water vapor the air can hold at the same temperature.

2. Northern Hemisphere dwellers, or most of the Earth's population, have probably all noticed longer days and shorter nights in the summer and the opposite in winter. This phenomenon occurs because the Earth's axis is not straight up and down at a 90 degree angle, but it is instead tilted a bit.

3 . Both types of tropical evergreen forests have many species of animals. Rainforest animals include monkeys, parrots, smaller animals and large numbers of insects. Drier tropical evergreen forests host larger animals such as Asian elephants, tigers, and rhinoceros as well as numerous birds and small animals.

4.They use their powerful sense of smell when hunting for seals, their main source of food. They can smell a seal's breathing hole, or aglu, up to one mile away.

5. Tropical Rain Forest   Polar Region

(1) Hot and Humid Climates (i) Penguin

(2) Gorilla (ii) Reindeer

(3) Monkey (iii) Greenland

(4) Assam (iv) Sun does not rise for six months

(5) Day and night are almost equal (v) winter temperature around-37oC

in length throughout the year

(6) western ghats

6 .Adaptation is the physical or behavioural characteristic of an organism that helps an organism to survive better in the surrounding environment.

Answer:

Explanation:

Q1. What is humidity?

Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air.

Q2. Days are shorter in winter or summer? Why?

As the Earth circles the Sun during the year, half of the Earth get more or less sunlight than the other half of the Earth. In the summer months, the northern half of the Earth, where we live, tilts towards the Sun. This means we get more sunlight, making the days longer.

O3. State four features of tropical animals

The tropical rainforest biome has four main characteristics: very high annual rainfall, high average temperatures, nutrient-poor soil, and high levels of biodiversity (species richness). Rainfall: The word “rainforest” implies that these are the some of the world's wettest ecosystems.

Q4. What is the advantage of strong sense of smell in polar bear?

Polar bears are also equipped with strong noses. They use their powerful sense of smell when hunting for seals, their main source of food. They can smell a seal's breathing hole, or aglu, up to one mile away. Once located, a polar bear will wait patiently by the hole and attack the seal's head when it comes up for air.

Q5. Given below is a list of climatic conditions and some examples of animals. Place the items in the relevant column:

Tropical rain forest Polar region

List: Penguin, Gorilla, monkey, Assam, Greenland, sun does not rise for six months, days and nights are almost equal in length, winter temperature is extremely low, western ghats, hit and humid climate, reindeer, elephants.

Tropical rain forest

  • Gorilla
  • monkey
  • Assam
  • days and nights are almost equal in length
  • hit and humid climate
  • reindeer
  • elephants.
  • western ghats,

Polar region

  • Penguin
  • Greenland
  • sun does not rise for six months
  • winter temperature is extremely low

. Q6. What do you mean by adaptation?

Adaptation is an evolutionary process where a plant or an animal becomes suited to living in a particular habitat. These are changes that take place over many generations through natural selection. Changes may be physical or behavioural
