Answer:

.Prashasti inscriptions are euologistic inscriptions issued by Indian rulers from 1st millennium CE onwards. Written in form of poetry or ornate prose, the prashastis were generally composed by the court poets.

.They were composed by learned Brahmans in praise of the rulers, which may not be lßiterally true; but, they tell us how rulers of that time wanted to illustrate themselves.

.Kings often rewarded the Brahmanas by giving them grants of land. These grants were recorded on copper plates which were given to those who received the land.

.Kalhana, a Kashmiri, was the author of Rajatarangini, an account of the history of Kashmir. He wrote the work in Sanskrit between 1148 and 1149. All information regarding his life has to be deduced from his own writing, a major scholar of which is Mark Aurel Stein.

.The main difference between the writings of the Kalhana and the Prashastis is that the learned Brahmans wrote the Prashastis in praise of the rulers and did not include any critical analysis of the policies implemented by the rulers.
