The profession of the scribe, previously widespread across cultures, lost most of its prominence and status with the advent of the printing press.

( 2 ) : In the thirteenth century Minhaj-i-Siraj used the term 'Hindustan'. He meant areas of Punjab, Haryana and the lands between Ganga and Yamuna. He used this term in a political sense that were a part of the dominions of the Delhi Sultanate
