The Battle of Buxar was a decisive battle, which permanently established the rule of the British East India Company in India. The battle was fought in 1764 with the English army on one side and the combined forces of the Mughal emperor, Mir Qasim, the Nawab of Bengal and Shah Alam II the Nawab of Awadh.

The battle of Buxar took place on 22 October 1764. In which the British won and the joint forces of the Indian Nawabs were defeated. This battle proved to be a turning point in the history of India. The defeat of the Indian side in the fighting was followed by treaties with the Nawabs between the British Company Governor, Clive, under which the British Company had secured the civil rights of Bengal, Bihar and Odisha and the company could collect revenue from these areas.

After the victory in this battle, the British company started misusing FARMAN and DASTAK. The British company forced Indian artisans, farmers and traders to sell their goods at cheap prices.

This battle eventually proved to be an important event in the history of India. The British were interested in Calcutta, Bombay and Madras Presidencies. This fight opened the way for them to concentrate on these Presidencies. The British had become the sole rulers of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa, they also had authority over the princely state of Awadh and the unitary rule of the British had begun in India.
