1.the workers took out rallies, closed shops and went on a major strike. So, to control and make stagnant the activities of leaders, General Dyer took command and imposed the martial law in Amritsar to avoid participation of people in groups in public places

2.Gandhi ji wanted to join Khilafat and Non-cooperation movements because he wanted to uite hindu and muslims. gandhiji wanted to raise khalifat issue because he wanted to unite the hindus and muslims. he felt that the khalifat issue was the best chance.
