Given:

The deck has 52 cards

To find:

1.Find the probability of getting a king of red color or an ace.

2.Find the probability of getting a black face card.

Solution 1:

number of getting a king of red color n(K) = 2

number of ace n(a) =4

where n(S)  = 52

Probability of getting a king of red color or an ace = \frac{n(K)}{n(S)}+\frac{n(A)}{n(S)}

                                                                                    =  \frac{2}{52} +\frac{4}{52}

                                                                                    =\frac{6}{52}

Solution 2:

number of getting a black face card n(B) = 6

where n(S)  = 52

Probability of getting a black face card =\frac{n(B)}{n(S)}

                                                                 =\frac{6}{52}

Probability of getting a king of red color or an ace =\frac{6}{52}

Probability of getting a black face card  =\frac{6}{52}
