Given :–

  • ABCD is a rectangle.
  • Length = AB = 6cm
  • Breadth = BC = 8cm

To Find :–

  • Area of shaded portion.

Solution :–

First, we need to find the radius of a circle.

So,

First, we find the diagonal.

So,

Diagonal of a rectangle = √b² + l²

  • l = 6cm
  • b = 8cm

⟹ √(8)² + (6)²

⟹ √64 + 36

⟹ √100

⟹ 10cm

So,

Radius of circle =  \dfrac{d}{2}

 \dfrac{\cancel{10}}{\cancel2}

⟹ 5cm

  • r = 5cm

Now,

Area of a circle = πr²

 \dfrac{22}{7} × (5)²

 \dfrac{22}{7} × 5 × 5

⟹ 3.14 × 5 × 5

⟹ 15.7

⟹ 78.5cm

  • Area of a circle = 78.5cm

Now, area of a rectangle = l × b

  • l = 6cm
  • b = 8cm

⟹ 6 × 8

⟹ 48cm

  • Area of rectangle = 48cm

Now, we need to find the area of shaded portion.

Area of shaded portion = Area of a circle – Area of a rectangle

⟹ 78.5 – 48

⟹ 30.5cm

Hence,

The area of the shaded portion is 30.5cm.
