Given : A work crew spent four days paving a stretch of road.

Day           Length (miles)

Monday          35/6

Tuesday         39/6

Wednesday    52/6

Thursday       25/6

The entire length of the road will be 27 miles

To Find :  total remaining length of road that needs to be paved after the four days

a).1 3/6

b).1 5/6

c).2 3/6

d).2 5/6

Solution:

Day           Length (miles)

Monday          35/6

Tuesday         39/6

Wednesday    52/6

Thursday       25/6

roads paved in 4 days  = 35/6  + 39/6  + 52/6  + 25/6

= (35 + 39 + 52 + 25)/6

=  151 /6

Total Road length = 27 miles

= 162 / 6  miles

total remaining length of road that needs to be paved after the four days

= 162/6  - 151/6

= 11/6

= 1  5/6
