When Huygens proposed the "wave theory" after sometime a scientist named Max Planck proposed a theory that light also travels in the form of small packets of energy called "quantum". He named this theory as "Planck's quantum theory".

But Einstein named this quantum ( packets of energy) as "photon".

So, Max Planck discover quantum or photon but it's discovery was confirmed by Einstein.
