Given :- Find the distance between point (0, 1) and midpoint of the line segment joining the point (5, 7) and (1,3). ?

Solution :-

we know that, mid point of (a,b) and (c,d) is :-

  • (a + c/2 , b + d/2) .

Let mid point of (5,7) and (1,3) is (x,y) .

so,

→ x = (5 + 1)/2 = 6/2 = 3

→ y = (7 + 3)/2 = 10/2 = 5

then, distance between (0,1) and (3,5) is,

→ D = √[(x2 - x1)² + (y2 - y1)²]

→ D = √(3 - 0)² + (5 - 1)²

→ D = √(3² + 4²)

→ D = √(9 + 16)

→ D = √(25)

→ D = 5 units (Ans.)
