breadth = 5m

Area = Length * breadth

Area = 8 * 5

Area = 40m

2. side = 3m

area = side * side

area = 3 * 3

area = 9m

3. not carpeted area = area of room - area of carpet

not carpeted area = 40 - 9

not carpeted area = 31 m

4. area of carpet = 9m

cost of carpet per sq.m = Rs.20

cost of carpet = 9 * 20

= Rs.180
