- This allows them to see things even in a completely dark room. The true reason that you can not see anything comes from the manner in which we see things in a lighted room. Light from a source reflects off of objects and then goes into our eyes allowing us to see. If there is no light, there is nothing to see.
- What happens when an object is placed in the path of light? Light travels in straight lines. It cannot bend to travel around objects; if it did we could see around corners! When light is blocked by an object a dark area or shadow is formed.
- Materials like frosted glass and some plastics are called translucent. When light strikes translucent materials, only some of the light passes through them. The light does not pass directly through the materials. It changes direction many times and is scattered as it passes through.
