1. Let the number of mentors = x

Now it is given that the number of

participants were 10 more than 8 times the number of mentors

Number of participants = 8x + 10

So by the given condition

x + 8x + 10 = 100

⇒ 9x + 10 = 100

⇒ 9x = 90

⇒ x = 10

Number of mentors = 10

Number of participants = 90

Number of mentors in the conference hall = 10

2. Number of days in workshop = 3

Number of break per day = 2

∴ Total number of breaks = 3 × 2 = 6

Number of members excluding mentors = 90

Tea and snacks costing Rs 25 per person

per break

Hence the required total cost incurred during 3-day workshop with 2

= Rs 25 × 6 × 90
