Q2. A student dropped a few pieces of marble in dilute HCl contained in a test tube .The evolved gas was passed through

lime water .

(i) What change would be observed in lime water?

(ii) Write balanced chemical equation for the above change.

(iii)What will happen if excess of gas is passed through lime water? Explain with the help of chemical equation.

Answer:

the answer for the first question is that from the above reaction the gas evolve will be co2 and when we pass it through lime water then the lime water will turn Milky.and if we continue passing the gas for some time it will again turn lime water to its normal color that is color less

Answer:

1) The lime water will turn into milky colour.

2) CaCO3+2HCl=CaCl2+H2O+CO2(balanced)

3) If excess amount of gas is passed through the reaction then it will lose its milky colour.

Explanation:

This can be explained when CO2 is passed through lime water it turns milky and the balance chemical reaction is given but when the excess gas which is passed through lime water cannot be expressed in terms of Gram, mole or litre so when excess gas is passed through lime water it will lose its milky colour.

Thank you. I hope it's helpful.
