Given :

  • Length of cube is 5 cm
  • Dimensions of the cuboid are 140 , 60 and 40 cm respectively

To find :

The number of cubes that were made from the cuboid

Formulas used :

  • Volume of cube = a³
  • Volume of cuboid = length × breadth × height

Concept insight :

  • In cases where we find the number of cubes of any figure that can be kept in the other figure
  • Or in cases where one figure is melt and made into another
  • We use volume formula

Solution :

Dimensions of the cuboid :

  • Length : 140 cm
  • Breadth : 60 cm
  • Height : 40 cm

Volume of the cuboid :

  • Length × Breadth × Height
  • 140 × 60 × 40
  • 336000 cm³

Dimensions of the cube :

  • Length of the side : 5 cm

Volume of the cube :

  • Side × Side × Side
  • 5 × 5 × 5
  • 125 cm³

Number of cubes that were made :

  • Volume of cuboid / Volume of cube

  • \sf\implies\::\dfrac{336000}{125}

  • 2688 cubes
