Given

An object moves along a straight line with an acceleration of 2 m/s?. If its initial

speed is 10 m/s

To Find

what will be its speed 2 seconds later?

Solution

  • Acceleration (a) = 2m/s²
  • Initial velocity (u) = 10m/s
  • time taken (t) = 2s
  • Final velocity (u) = ?

*According to first equation of motion**

→ v = u + at

→ v = 10 + 2*2

→ v = 10 + 4 = 14m/s

Hence, speed after 2s is 14m/s

Gɪᴠᴇɴ :-

  • Initial velocity (u) = 10 m/s

  • Acceleration (a) = 2 m/s²

  • Time (t) = 2 seconds

ᴛᴏ ғɪɴᴅ :-

  • Final velocity (v)

sᴏʟᴜᴛɪᴏɴ :-

On using 1st equation of motion, we get

v = u + at

v = 10 + 2 × 2

v = 10 + 4

v = 14

Hence,

  • Velocity of an object after 2 seconds is 14 m/s

ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴇǫᴜᴀᴛɪᴏɴs :-

v = u + at

s = ut + 1/2 at²

2as = v² - u²
