1) A first aid kit is essential to be prepared for certain kinds of medical emergencies. It is a must to have a first aid kit at home. It helps to prevent a mild injury and at times help in saving a trip to hospital or a clinic.
- Things required in a first aid box should include:
- A first aid manual with emergency contact list.
- Band-aid and bandages
- Cotton and Dettol ( antiseptic)
- Thermometer
- Medicines for mild fever and aches like paracetamol and crocin
- Ointments and tubes like betadine and soframycin for applying on wounds and injuries
- Antiseptic wipes
- Antibiotic solution
- Adhesive tape
- Tweezers , scissors and safety pins.
2) (i) A person who faints should be monitored for his breath. The person's legs should be raised to balance the blood pressure. The clothing should be loosened and fruit juice should be given is possible. A CPR may be performed in severe cases.
(ii) A person met with an accident should be treated by cleaning the wound and wiping off the wound with an antiseptic . If required ointment and band-aid should be applied. Pain killers maybe provided if needed. Also if there is severe loss of blood , the person should be taken to the hospital in an ambulance for better care.
(iii) Scrapped knee should be cleaned and wiped with antiseptic solution. Depending upon the wound , a band-aid or bandage should be used. Leg should be placed in a straight manner for sometime to prevent pain due to movement of knee joint.
