The Astrologer was neither a hero, nor a villain. He was just a regular man-like anyone in our society.

The story revolves around internal and external conflicts of a common man in a society.

This has been taken from the story 'An Astrologer's Day'. It is a suspenseful-thriller short story written by the author R. K. Narayan, published in the year 1947 by the publisher named 'Indian Thought Publications'. It is the first chapter among famous short stories of Malgudi Days. Soon it was telecasted on television in 2006.

This story is an example of external conflict against society and it's struggle. The two characters in the story are- Astrologer and Guru Nayak. The story mostly pirouette around Astrologer. Astrologer had issues with neighbouring dealers and he could live perfectly and produce the best of its future quarrels. Nayak was not in high ethos when he acquired a knowledge of this because he wanted to murder a man himself.

This emotions influenced him. May be panic was lowered inside when he reunited with Nayak again. At this point Astrologer's struggle had been somewhat solated. This shows that even fictional characters can have man like issues and solutions to them.

Thus conflict is settled when Astrologer said that he expired 4 months ago in a far-off town. The Astrologer and Guru Nayak are two great precedent of internal and extern conflicts. The astrologer concede Guru Nayak as someone he meet up before, someone he thought he had murdered. The Astrologer has frightened that the person he stabbed and left to pass away in field, is still alive to tell about it. One of the foremost conflicts in the story is an internal one.

The astrologer was able to tell Guru Nanak's past very accurately as he was his friend and he knew him for a very long time. Both of them lived in the same village. When he was a youngster, he had fought with him and had stabbed him on his chest and left him for dead!! This states that the astrologer wasn't a very skilled man.
