(a) Abiotic resources
These resources are obtained from the non-living or physical environment. These include land, water, air, rocks, natural gas, petroleum products, minerals like Iron ore, gold, silver etc.
(b) biotic resources
The biotic resources are obtained from living organisms, such as plants and animals. They include resources from plants life cereals, vegetables and resources from animals like fish, meat, milk, bones,hides,etc.

On the basis of their developmental resources can be classified into two categories .
(a) Actual resources
The resources video have been developed by man for his own use and which are being utilized are called actual resources. Coal, petroleum, natural gas, etc come under this category.
(b) Potential resources
