Q2. If the area of a Trapezium is 48cm². Find one of its parallel sides if another parallel side is of 12cm and distance between
the parallel sides is 6 cm.
Answers
One of the parallel sides =24cm
Let the length of the other parallel sides be x cm
Also, area of the trapezium =480 sq. cm
Distance between the parallel sides =8cm
∴ Area of a trapezium =1/2 x (a+b) x h
∴480=1/2 x (24+x) x 8
⇒480=96+4x
⇒480−96=4x
⇒4x=384
⇒x= 384/4
=96cm
Thus the length of the other parallel side is 96cm
Given:
The area of a Trapezium is 48cm².
One of its parallel sides is 12 cm.
The distance between the parallel sides is 6 cm.
To Find:
The length of the other parallel side.
Solution:
Formula to find the area of a parallelogram =
where, a and b are the two parallel sides and h is the distance between them.
In this question, the only unknown value is b. Substituting the values in the equation :
Therefore, the length of the other parallel side of the trapezium is 4 cm.
