Answer:

2. The silver nitrate solution changes colour from whitish - colourless solution to a blue coloured solution. This happens because copper displaces silver in the solution to form copper nitrate. Explanation: Copper displaces silver in the solution because copper is more reactive than silver.

4.Comparison of chemical properties of metals and non-metals -

Property Metals Non-metals

1. Nature Metals are electropositive in nature Non-metals are electronegative in nature

2. STate Metals are solid (except mercury) Non-metals exist in all the three states, i.e., solid, liquid and gas.

3. Metallic  Metals are lustrous Non-metals are non-lustorous. They cannot polished.

4. Ductility Ductile Non-ductile

5. Reaction with acids Metals replaces hydrogen from acids and from salts. Non-metals exits do not replace hydrogen from acids.

6. Reaction with oxygen in air Metals forms basic oxides some of which to form alkalis. Non-metals form acidic or neutral oxides.

5.:Alloys are the mixture of two or more metals or metals and non-metals. They find immense applications due to better characteristics than the individual metals. An alloy is usually made by mixing metals in their molten state.

6.Cooking utensils are made uo of copper and aluminium because they are good conductors of heat and hence food can be easily cooked in them. Their handles are made up of plastic because plastic is poor conductor of heat due to which the handles do not get heated and we are sble to hold the utensil with their help.
