It contains digestive acids inside it which release a smell somewhat like honey Insects get attracted by these smell and come to the pitcher plant and sit at the mouth of the pitcher plant. When insects goes inside the plant slightly, then they slip as the mouth of the plant contains some slippery substance, the insect falls into the stomach of the plant and gets digested.
