Historical sources tell us about history. It may be a document, a picture, a sound recording, a book, a cinema film, a television program or an object. Any sort of artifact that conveys information is a source. There are three types of sources of history- primary ,secondary sources and  tertiary sources.

Materials used to study history can be classified into three types: primary, secondary and tertiary sources. Print sources, such as books or journals, are commonly used sources, but a source could also be recorded music or video, Internet sites or physical objects.
