Explanation:

The reaction between an acid and bases is called a neutralization reaction. The result of the reaction is salt and water. Acid + Base → Salt + Water + heat. For example, when hydrochloric acid(acid) and sodium hydroxide(base) react they form sodium chloride(salt) and water.

Answer:

(1) To relieve indigestion , we take an antacid such as milk of magnesia, which contains magnesium hydroxide. It neutralises the effect of excessive acid.

(2) The sting of an ant contains formic acid. When an ant bites, it injects the acidic liquid into the skin. The effect of the sting can be neutralized by rubbing moist baking soda (sodium hydrogencarbonate) or calamine solution , which contains zinc carbonate.
