  • The red blood corpuscles also known as the red blood cells possess a red iro containing pigment known as haemoglobin. It is also a respiratory pigment as it helps in the transport of gases. It transports oxygen in the form of oxyhaemoglobin and removes carbon dioxide as carbaminohaemoglobin.
  • The blood acts as a mode of transport for nutrients, minerals, vitamins and hormones. Endocrine glands also known as ductless glands pour their secretions known as hormones into the blood from where they are taken to the target organ.
