Answer:

Distance=44m

Displacement=0m

Explanation:

distance=2pie r

2*22/7*7

=44m

displacement=0

Because had has return to its position.

Given :

An object covers a circle of radius 7m in 40secs

To find:

Distance travelled and displacement in 100 secs

Solution:

Refer attachment given. At 40 secs object reaches A and at 100 secs object reaches B

In 40 secs object cover 1 round of circle

In 100 secs object cover 100×1/40 = 2.5

round that means 2 round + half round

2 and half round from A to A then A to B

Distance covered = 2.5 × circumference

 \\  = 2.5 \times 2 \: \pi \: r \\  \\  = 2.5 \times 2 \times  \dfrac{22}{7}  \times 7 \\  \\  = 2.5 \times 2 \times 22 \\  \\  = 2.5 \times 44  = 110 \: m

Displacement is the shortest distance between final and initial point. Here in attachment the initial point is A and final point is B

Displacement = r + r ( from A to B)

 \\  = 7 + 7 \\  \\  = 14 \: m

Required Answer:

Therefore displacement is 14m and distance is 110m

Basic Points:

  1. Distance is the entire length object travelled
  2. Displacement is shortest distance between final and initial point
