Q25. What is the proper way of storing the bar magnets and horse-shoe magnet when not in use?
Explain with the help of a labelled diagram.​

The bar magnet should be stored in pairs in a wooden box, separated by a piece of wood, such

that their opposite ends face each other. Pieces of iron should be placed at both the ends of a

horseshoe magnet. These iron pieces are called magnetickeepers.

Magnets can loose their magnetic power if we do not take proper care of  

them.

The following precautions must be taken for storing magnets:

Magnets should never be handles roughly .

Magnets should never be heated.

When we are not using magnets they should be stored along with magnetic keepers  to avoid self demagnetisation.

A magnetic keeper is a piece of soft iron.

Two magnets are arranged with their opposite poles lying side by side.

A piece of wood should be kept between them and two pieces of soft iron placed across the poles.
