Given :

7x - 5y = 11,

3x + 4y = 17

To Find : Solve for x  and y

(a) x = 3, y = 2

(b) x = 2, y = 3

(C) x = -3, y = 2

(d) x = -3, y = -2

Solution:

7x - 5y = 11        Eq1

3x + 4y = 17       Eq2

4 * Eq1  + 5 * Eq2

=> 28x - 20y  + 15x  + 20y  = 44 + 85

=> 43x  = 129

=> x = 129/43

=> x = 3

Substitute x = 3 in Eq2

=> 3(3) + 4y = 17

=> 9 + 4y = 17

=> 4y = 8

=> y = 2

x = 3  and  y = 2   is the required solution

correct option is)  (a) x = 3, y = 2
