Answer: 10 liters

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: A mixture contain HCl and water in  ratio 4:3

Now let HCL = 4x liter  and water = 3x liter

According to question  5 L of water is added to the mixture then  ratio becomes 4:5

\dfrac{4x}{3x+5}=\dfrac{4}{5} \\\\\Rightarrow 20x= 4(3x+5)\\\\\Rightarrow 20x= 12x+20\\\\\Rightarrow 8x= 20 \\\\\Rightarrow x= \dfrac{20}{8} = 2.5liter

HCL =  4 x 2.5 = 10 liter

Hence, the quantity of HCL is 10 liters in the given mixture
